Imagine a place… where children with cancer can be treated in a setting close to home but far removed from their disease… where the atmosphere is cheerful and uplifting, where the smiles are plenty and the powers of hope and healing are everywhere. Imagine a place where the attitude is healthy…and so are the spirits of the children who are welcomed there. This is the mission of the Kids Against Cancer Recreation and Treatment Center…

Planned to be located in a picturesque New York City setting, the KAC Center is based on the concept of healing from the outside in. Because children have a tremendous capacity for courage, hope, and simply having fun, cutting-edge medical treatment will be provided in a setting as warm and inviting as the neighborhood playground. The treatment center will provide the best health care and technology available while the recreational center will provide a place for the children to be children, even as they are confronted with the fight of their lives.

We hope one day to free all children from cancer… much work is being done to achieve this ultimate goal. Meanwhile, the most we can do is love them and teach them how to turn their sorrow into hope and their fears into laughter. If we can instill a healthy attitude during a time of illness, we can give them the power to overcome this disease. After all, they are our future.
